Why I'm [Finally] Launching a Newsletter

The thing I kept putting off and why I can't anymore.

BUILDING IN PUBLIC

6/19/2026

I've been meaning to start a newsletter since before the first episode dropped.

That's not an exaggeration. It was on the to-do list in 2025 when I was still figuring out what the show was. It stayed on the list through Season 1. It survived multiple website overhauls, a bridge period between seasons, and at least three conversations where I told someone "the newsletter is coming soon."

Soon kept moving.

Here's what I told myself: I'd launch it when the show was more established. When I had enough listeners to make it worthwhile. When I had a clear sense of what I'd even write about.

All of that was reasonable. All of it was also a way of avoiding the commitment.

The honest truth is that a newsletter is a promise. You're telling someone: give me your inbox, and I'll show up there regularly with something worth reading. That's a relationship, not a broadcast. And relationships are scarier than publishing into the void.

What changed: I stopped thinking about the newsletter as a distribution channel and started thinking about it as the show's natural extension. The podcast is the city. The newsletter is what you think about on the walk home after.

Each issue will be anchored to a city, a story, or a theme from the show… but it'll go somewhere the episode didn't. A personal moment that didn't make the cut. A mental model that connects to the theme. Something I've been reading or thinking about that belongs in the same conversation.

It's not a recap. It's not a content dump. It's the quieter layer underneath.

If that sounds like something you'd want in your inbox — the signup is live. Finally.
